Orthopedic Surgery

Picture
Since 1997 Saint Francis Animal Hospital has been providing a wide range of orthopedic services. Ever since Dr. Edwin Madera began studying veterinary medicine, orthopedic surgeries have always been his favorite field of interest. Due to this definite enthusiasm in the field, we are proud to currently have him as part of the very few veterinarians to offer orthopedic services locally. We thrive on keeping ourselves educated and up to date on the latest advances on orthopedic medicine and methods.

Presently, there are various orthopedic surgeries we are providing to our patients. One of our most common procedure in dogs is the repair of a ruptured Cruciate Ligament. This ligament is crucial for the stability of the joint and is needed to counteract forces exerted by the femur and the tibial bone. Other orthopedic surgeries that we are able to perform are as follows:

  • Amputation
  • Bone Biopsy
  • Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO)
  • Fractures, Bone Plating, Pins and Wires
  • Mandibular Fractures
  • Patella Luxation
  • Ununited Anconeal Process
